Why Vote for Dr Kumar?

Dear Voter

I'm standing in this by-election because I believe it's time for an anti-sectarian councillor on Fermanagh District Council.

Of all the many places I have been a doctor, my six years at the Erne Hospital have been the most rewarding.

As a doctor people often feel they can tell me things about their lives which they would not tell anyone else.

Being your Alliance councillor here would allow me to use my insight about what our wonderful community needs to ensure the council makes better decisions.

We need better traffic management, more community police on the beat and more quality tourism initiatives.

As your councillor I will work hard to deliver what you expect.

Please give me your No. 1 on 17th September.

Yours faithfully,

Dr. Kumar Kamble

Dr Kumar Says Only Alliance Will Deliver Free Personal Care for Older People

Alliance Party Enniskillen by-election candidate Dr Kumar Kamble has stated that the DUP, Sinn Fein, SDLP and Ulster Unionists have failed local older people because they have not implemented free personal care, even though they promised to do so in their manifestos. He said that Alliance has been the only consistent campaigner for the provision of free personal care.

Dr Kumar Kamble said: “The DUP, Sinn Fein, the SDLP and the Ulster Unionists have let older people down because they haven’t implemented free personal care. They all pledged to introduce it during last year’s election campaign – they have failed so far to live up to their promise.

“On the day that the free nursing care bill was being debated in the Assembly in 2002, Alliance MLA Kieran McCarthy put in an amendment calling for free personal care to be included in the bill. The Ulster Unionists, SDLP, DUP and Sinn Fein all voted against it. Alliance was the only party to vote for it. The other parties then jumped on our bandwagon to support free personal care at the last election, yet they have done nothing in government to create such an initiative.

Alliance has been the only consistent and strong campaigners for free personal care for older people.

“Its time that the tribal Executive parties delivered for local people - everyone is sick of missed opportunities and broken promises. We need less talk and more action on this important issue. The Executive parties have failed older people, but Alliance will deliver for them.”

Dr Kumar to Meet Police on Tackling Crime

Alliance Party Enniskillen by-election candidate Dr Kumar Kamble has said that anti-social behaviour and burglary are issues that must be tackled strongly as he said these matters make some people’s lives a misery. He is going to arrange a meeting with local police to discuss the issues.

Dr Kumar Kamble said: “Thug culture, no matter how small the problem is, can be extremely damaging to local residents’ quality of life if it is not tackled strongly. I am planning to meet with local police to discuss tackling anti-social behaviour and burglary in the Enniskillen area.

“Anti-social behaviour and burglaries are two of the key concerns local people have in relation to crime. People need to have total confidence and must feel safe in their homes. They should also have confidence that their belongings will be safe from damage or theft.

“While I would always urge people to be careful if they are walking around at night on their own, I think more can still be done to make our streets safer.

“Why should thugs be allowed to intimidate law abiding citizens in the town on Friday and Saturday nights? This is simply not acceptable and I will be calling on police to conduct more regular patrols in the area at those times.”

Foster Should Be Concentrating On Job as Minister - Kamble

Foster Should Be Concentrating On Job as Minister - Dr Kumar

Alliance Party Enniskillen by-election candidate Dr Kumar Kamble has criticised DUP candidate Arlene Foster saying that being a Government Minister requires all a person’s efforts, and he questioned how she can run her department effectively and stand in the by-election.

Dr Kumar Kamble said: “Being a Government Minister is a job that requires 100% commitment. How can Arlene Foster be giving her job as Minister her full attention if she is standing in the Enniskillen by-election?

“I am sure that the public will be concerned that Arlene Foster is trying to juggle the two matters and I am sure they would far rather see her working on boosting our economy.

“There is a massive amount of work to do at the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment. After all, Arlene Foster is responsible for trying to attract foreign jobs here and also encourage growth in local business. Given that our economy is in the teeth of the credit crunch, I believe she would be far better served focussing all her energies on running her department.

“Arlene Foster has also been one of the sternest critics of the dual mandate and she herself will be one of the double-jobbers if she wins this by-election. Local people will be very concerned about this too.”

Dr Kumar Says Vote Alliance to Protect Environment

Dr Kumar Says Vote Alliance to Protect Environment

Alliance Party Enniskillen by-election candidate Dr Kumar Kamble has said that a vote for Alliance is a vote for the party that works to protect the environment. He said environmentalism is particularly important because Fermanagh’s vital tourism industry relies on the area’s natural beauty. He also criticised the Stormont Executive parties’ failure to create an independent Environmental Protection Agency.

Dr Kumar Kamble said: “Fermanagh is an area of outstanding beauty, and the scenery and nature are vitally important to our tourism industry. The local environment simply has to be protected in order to ensure that the area’s economy can benefit long into the future.

Alliance is the Opposition at Stormont. The DUP, Sinn Fein, Ulster Unionists and SDLP are in the Executive and they have failed badly on the issue of environmentalism. They had a golden opportunity to create an independent Environmental Protection Agency but refused to do so. All Northern Ireland has been left with is a flimsy organisation which has little power to act on green issues. This shows people how little the four tribal parties care about environmentalism.

Alliance has been campaigning for years for the creation of an independent Environmental Protection Agency and we have been holding the Executive to account for their failures. If people want to see the local environment being protected then they should vote Alliance.”

Kumar Opens Snow Patrol's Eyes

Kumar Opens Snow Patrol's Eyes

The Alliance Party has informed Snow Patrol that Ogra Sinn fein is using its song 'Open Your Eyes' in a YouTube video for its candidate in the upcoming Enniskillen by-election.

Alliance Party Enniskillen by-election candidate Dr. Kumar Kamble said today:

"I feel it's important to open everyone's eyes to the kind of tactics Sinn Fein uses to promote itself.

"If it turns out that Snow Patrol did not authorise the use of their music for a political campaign, I am happy to have taught Sinn Fein a lesson.

"As a newly elected Alliance councillor in Enniskillen, I will continue to hold the other parties to account.

"As the first ethnic minority candidate ever in Enniskillen [true? Who cares...Let someone refute it, if you and Kumar think saying such is worthwhile], I intend to open everyone's eyes to the harm tribal politics has done and continues to do to our society."

Enniskillen needs New Voice To Represent Everyone

Enniskillen needs New Voice To Represent Everyone

Alliance Party Enniskillen by-election candidate Dr Kumar Kamble is today submitting his nomination papers at the Townhall in Enniskillen. He stated that Enniskillen needs a new voice that will represent everyone, not just one side or the other. He also said that people are sick of the failures of the Executive to meet in the past two months and their failure over key issues like scrapping the 11-plus, environmental protection and the Maze stadium.

Dr Kumar Kamble said: “People in Enniskillen need a fresh new voice to represent the whole community, not just one of the two sides. I have a strong background in serving the community as a doctor at the Erne Hospital so I understand the concerns people have about funding for local services.

“The DUP, Sinn Fein, the Ulster Unionists and the SDLP are failing within the Stormont Executive. It is their fault that there is total chaos over the scrapping of the 11-plus, they failed to create an independent environmental protection agency, they are letting weeds grow over the Maze site instead of building a stadium, and they have not implemented free personal care for older people.

“These parties’ catalogue of failures almost grows on a weekly basis. The Executive has not met since mid-June and will not meet again until mid-September because they cannot agree on anything. This shows the total lack of respect that these parties have for local people.

“For too long, Fermanagh has suffered underfunding in vital services and public transport. We have also missed out on important job and tourism opportunities and I aim to address these problems. It’s time for a fair deal for Fermanagh.”
